Our strategy was that Subway promises a fresh breakfast because it is made to order for you. We wanted to show the food as healthy and delicious, so it was important to include an eating shot where the product was central and a turning point to an otherwise difficult day.

The commercial certainly created empathy for the viewers with the problem of mornings being solved by Subway. Another problem for Subway is that they are a latecomer to the breakfast day part behind the other fast feeders, so branding was really important.

See our earlier blog

Interesting point from a Darwinian view. I guess the problem is experienced right now by those who have instant gratification as part of their nature. Which seems to be a majority.
However, as you point out, it takes all kinds and that is good in the long term.

Nice article. This week, "All in the Mind" on ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corp) ran a story on the same study. Good for you to beat them to the punch.

It raises the question about whether we are hardwired to be grasshoppers or ants from the old Aesop fable. Do some of us store and some just just use so whatever happens in the environment we can survive.

Interesting how Canadians are getting more nationalistic with 300,000 people at Ottawa's Celebration.

Here is another version of the issue from the US.

I once asked a creative who wrote a commercial for me in just an hour, why he charged so much. I said to him "that was easy. How long did it that take you to do that?". I was ready to pounce on him trying to explain the charge for less than an hour's work.

Then he answered my question of "how long did it take?" with this answer - one I will always remember.

He said, "It took the better part of a lifetime."

Great, great, great blogs. I work for a clothes store retailer. We already do some of your ideas. But there are a couple we have never thought of. Lots of information and no message - wow - so obvious we never imagined.

Thanks
